Jeff was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He is the President and co-owner of Premier Investments of Iowa, Inc. a wealth management firm in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Jeff graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in finance. He is the host of the Premier Financial Hour radio show which has aired for over 11 years on WMT 600 AM in Eastern Iowa.

After the death of his oldest son, Seth, in 2016 Jeff became an advocate for substance abuse and addiction. Shortly after, he joined the board of the Area Substance Abuse Council (ASAC)  in Iowa.

Jeff frequently speaks for groups, schools, and organizations to spread awareness about substance abuse. In 2020, Jeff founded Choices Network, Ltd. a non-profit designed to continue his fundraising and awareness efforts.
